Chapter 9 It’s Clean
Several neighbors saw Edie bandaging Jefferson, and one of them, an elderly lady, scolded Madeline, “Where did you find her? How can you let her casually treat such a serious wound?”
Another neighbor chimed in noisily, “Exactly. Ask her to step aside and let the doctor. through.”
Madeline explained, “It’s fine; please walk the doctor back. We’re done here.”
“You can’t just mess with a wound like that!” A neighbor said to Edie, “What do you think you’re doing, missy? Step aside!”
The doctor, looking annoyed, said, “It’s late at night; don’t waste my time.”
Edie’s face showed no expression. She held the end of the bandage with one hand, fished out her employee card with the other, and dropped it on the coffee table.
Without even looking up, she said to the doctor, “I won’t waste your time; you can go back now.”
Upon seeing the card, everyone noticed that it indicated Edie was the director of the Department of Neurosurgery at Clerlun Hospital.
Clerlun Hospital was a tertiary hospital that was renowned even across the country.
The doctor was speechless and did not dare to retort. The neighbor, who had just asked Edie to move aside, blushed with embarrassment.
He thought in his heart, “What… How could I know that an expert, whose appointment is usually hard to get even through a broker, would appear here, and… be so young?”
Madeline quickly ushered the group away, and Edie finished bandaging.
Madeline then tentatively asked, “Have you had your meal yet?”
“Not yet,” Edie smiled. “Can I get some food?”
After Eliza left, Madeline never felt she could get close to Edie.
“Of course.” She was delighted, “Have a seat and watch TV for a while; I’ll cook.”
Madeline’s husband passed away, and she had been raising her two children alone. Her children even took her surname.
Madeline asked Edie to watch TV in Eliza’s room.
The place was originally a two–bedroom apartment; Madeline gave the master bedroom to Eliza and the second bedroom to Jefferson, and she made herself a small room in the living room using plywood.
Edie looked around the room; the furniture and decorations were the most expensive Madeline and Jefferson could afford.
Edie gave a sarcastic glance at the autographed posters of celebrities on the wall.

Chapter 9 It’s Clean
She thought, ‘Clay, Violet, and Sebastian always say Eliza has suffered a lot over twenty–odd years, but she has everything the best, being pampered by the Lane family -what kind of suffering is that?‘
After having a meal there, it was late when Edie returned to the Brooks family. As soon as she entered the room, she saw no one in the bed but heard the sound of water running in the bathroom.
Her heart suddenly skipped a beat. ‘Carl is awake?‘
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, and walked toward the bathroom. She had already drafted countless speeches in her mind, preparing to discuss Carl’s condition
as a researcher.
However, the bathroom door was not closed, and Drogo was bathing Carl.
Drogo heard Edie come back. “Hi, madam. You’re back.”
Edie pursed her lips and nodded. Seeing that Drogo was almost done, she said, “Thank you; I’ll take over.”
Drogo complied and quietly left.
Carl, naked, was nearly apoplectic with rage. ‘Drogo, you skipped work twice. I’ll definitely fire you once I wake up!‘
Edie started to dry Carl off and dress him.
She was not very skilled at serving others, and Carl was heavy and completely
uncooperative.
As Edie was reaching around his waist to pull up his pants, she lost her grip, and Carl fell backward, pulling Edie down onto him.
Her forehead accidentally hit Carl’s solid abs, and her mouth accidentally touched his penis through the fabric.
Both Edie and Carl were shocked.
Carl was speechless. ‘Go sleep on the couch!‘ he thought to himself.
‘Dammit, Edie closed her eyes and silently cursed for the first time in her heart. ‘It’s fine. I cleaned it just now, and it’s clean now. It’s all fine…‘
