Chapter 32 What Belongs To Me
This was something Eliza and Violet had planned all along. First, they found someone to create a ruckus and stop Edie from coming and then used public opinion to smear her.
In this situation, there was no doubt that the Brooks family was being put in an awkward position. As long as Edie showed up, the Brooks family would be disgraced.
Violet and Eliza brought this up just as the party was about to start, leaving Zelda with no other option but to go along with their plan.
However, for Zelda, although Edie came from a humble background, she had received over twenty years of elite education and was outstanding in both appearance and demeanor; she would be passable as the wife of the Brooks family.
Zelda looked down on Eliza even more; Eliza could never please her, and in normal circumstances, Zelda wouldn’t even give her a glance.
But today, with the emergency and so many people around, Zelda hesitated. ‘Well, let’s first make use of Eliza to get through this hurdle, and not let the Brooks family be shamed on such an occasion today. I’ll deal with her after Carl wakes up.
She gritted her teeth and said, “Fine! We’ll do it your way.”
She planned in her mind, “To hell with it, I’ll use Eliza to get through this moment. In any case, our family can’t be shamed under such circumstances. I’ll deal with her when Carl wakes up.
Sophia, standing nearby, couldn’t hold back. “Mom, I don’t want her to be my sister–in- law.”
The smug expressions on Violet and Eliza’s faces froze instantly.
Clay was afraid of losing everything and quickly said to Sophia, “Ms. Brooks, we had no choice but to come up with this plan.”
Actually, Clay didn’t approve of this scheme either. There was no need to take such a risk, but Edie had firmly severed ties with them. It would be difficult to gain any benefits from the Brooks family through Edie in the future.
But Eliza was different she was a good girl and mainly on the same page as them.
Violet said, “Yes! If we let Edie show up now, won’t that be embarrassing?”
Sophia was furious. She couldn’t stand the thought of Eliza marrying her brother, but she had no say in the matter.
She stomped her foot and ran outside to give Edie a heads–up.

Chapter 32 What Belongs To Me
The waiter at the door had been bribed by the Thornton family. They instructed him firmly that he must not let Edie in, as she would spoil their plans.
As soon as Edie approached, a waiter stopped her. “This is the Brooks family wedding party. No entry without an invitation.”
Edie said, “I am Carl’s wife. Step aside!”
‘Mrs. Brooks is inside; this woman is ridiculous.‘ The waiter replied, “Who are you trying to fool? Mrs. Brooks is inside, and the party has been going on for a while.”
Edie looked puzzled. “Who is the Mrs. Brooks inside?”
The waiter gave her a dismissive look. “The heiress of the Thornton family, who else?”
Suddenly, Edie understood everything.
It turned out that Eliza and her family knew Carl might wake up and weren’t willing to miss out on the benefits, so they planned all this.
Edie thought inwardly, ‘They are truly the most shameless people I have ever seen. When Carl was in a vegetative state, they wanted nothing to do with him, but now that there’s good news, they regret it.‘
She let out a cold laugh. ‘They really think I’m an easy target; they please me when they need my help but kick me aside when they see I can’t bring them benefits.’
Seeing that Edie was still standing at the door, the waiter impatiently tried to push her away. “Who are you? Daring to impersonate Mr. Brooks’s wife, you’re asking for trouble. Get lost!”
Before the waiter could touch her, Edie slapped him. “Open your eyes wide and take a good look at who the real wife of Carl is, so you don’t make this mistake again.”
Her slap stunned the waiter, and she walked directly in.
The waiter quickly reacted and tried to pull her back.
Just then, Sophia, who had come to give Edie a heads–up, arrived and saw this. She slapped the waiter, too. “How dare you touch my sister–in–law? Are you trying to look for trouble?”
The waiter didn’t recognize Edje, but he knew Sophia. ‘She’s the real Mrs. Brooks? Then who is the one inside?‘
He quickly apologized, “Sorry, Ms. Brooks. I…”
Sophia didn’t bother listening to his excuses and scolded him, “Get lost now!”
The waiter immediately left, afraid of getting into trouble.
Sophia took Edie’s hand “Edie, why did you arrive so late? If you were any later, the bitch Eliza would have taken your place.”
As she spoke, she pulled Edie inside.
Edie asked. “What happened?”

Sophia burst out angrily. “I’m so mad! None of the Thornton family are good. I suspect they leaked information about you and Sebastian. My mom agreed to let Eliza take
your place because of the Brooks family’s reputation.”
She was even more anxious than Edie herself. “Edie, hurry up! You have to step up. If Eliza really marries my brother, I don’t know how she’ll torment me.”
She even used emotional tactics, afraid that Edie couldn’t compete with Eliza.
Edie patted her hand. “Don’t worry. No one can take away what I want.”
This was what Sophia had been waiting to hear. “I’ll help you speak up later.”
Edie said, “Just do me a small favor.”
Sophia asked, “What is it?”
Edie replied, “Please help me play a video later.”
