Chapter 30 Sebastian’s Girlfriend
The doctor on duty, Marc Harding, was at a loss for words. “It was yourselves who insisted on removing it.”
The family member stubbornly claimed, “In any case, it was you who took the bandage off! You have to take responsibility.”
Edie pushed through the crowd and walked over to greet the patient in the wheelchair. “Hi, Mr. Patton.”
The patient, Otis Patton, greeted her back, “Hi… Ms. Thornton.”
“Ms. Thornton is here too. You’ve just arrived in time to settle this!” Otis’s family saw Edie and immediately grabbed hold of her.
Edie squatted down and lifted Otis’s clothes to check the wound. “It was almost healed, but now there’s a bit of tearing. Currently, it looks like the infection is causing a delay in healing. Don’t worry.”
As soon as Edie spoke, Otis’s family members calmed down a little.
Edie said, “The wound is still exposed. I’ll have someone take you to the emergency room for treatment, and I’ll handle it myself. Is that okay?”
The family member showed her a bit of respect and finally stopped making a fuss. Edie asked Talia to take Otis and his family away. She walked over to Marc and said, Follow me.”
Marc was over thirty, but his position wasn’t as high as hers. Since the problem was caused by him, he had no choice but to follow Edie reluctantly.
Edie asked him, “How many years have you been a doctor? This kind of thing has happened to you so many times. They asked to remove it, so you removed it?”

Marc felt wronged. “The attending doctor was in surgery and couldn’t be contacted. The family kept making a fuss, so I…” He fumbled with his words, not knowing how to explain.
Edie got straight to the point. “So you were pestered until you were fed up and didn’t care either way. You just let them remove it because you thought it was the patient’s own suffering if the wound wasn’t healing properly. Is that right?”
Marc opened his mouth. “I never thought they would make such a big fuss.”
“You’re reaping what you’ve sown for saying ‘I never thought, ” Edie said coldly. “You couldn’t contact the attending doctor, so why didn’t you contact me? I’m on vacation, not dead.”
Marc didn’t say anything else, but his expression clearly showed he was still resentful, thinking he was unlucky to deal with such a family and patient.
Edie added, “I’ll let you go. Don’t appear in front of the family, again, or they’ll start up

again.”
Marc mumbled an “Okay” and knew that Edie was looking out for him. He said, “Thank you, Ms. Thornton.”
After treating Otis’s wound, which took some time due to minor complications, Otis and his family didn’t want to let her leave.
“Ms. Thornton, it’s really lucky to have you here.”
“Yes, we don’t know how to thank you enough. How about let us treat you to a meal?” Edie politely declined. “No need, thanks.”
As she spoke, she took off her gloves and started to walk away. The family member didn’t give up and tried to stop her. “Ms. Thornton, please accept our gratitude. It’s just a meal. It won’t take long.”
Edie frowned. “I have things to do.”
Otis’s family member continued, “Oh… Ms. Thornton, don’t go yet. My dad says his stomach has been hurting since the surgery.”
Edie replied, “Go find the attending doctor. It’s not my duty now.”
She was getting impatient, feeling like they were deliberately delaying her.
Without overthinking, she looked at the time–it was already six thirty.
It took twenty minutes to drive from the hospital to the party hall.
Seeing the family member still trying to come over, Edie immediately called for security in a cold voice and said to them, “It’s all settled. If they keep causing trouble, call the police directly.”
Otis’s family was held back by the security guard but still shouted after Edie, “Ms. Thornton! Ms. Thornton! You can’t just leave us in the lurch.”
Edie took out her phone and called the Brooks family driver who had promised to take her to the party hall and bring the gown. But the call went unanswered until it disconnected.
Her face darkened as she thought of the family member who wouldn’t let her leave, realizing there might be a problem.
She decided to take a taxi, giving the driver the address of the wedding party hall.
The taxi driver kept glancing at her in the rearview mirror while driving. He asked, “Hey? Aren’t you… Sebastian’s girlfriend?”
Edie narrowed her eyes and asked, “Where did you hear that?”
The taxi driver replied, “Such a big deal has even made it to the hot search.”
