Chapter 25 Giving Him A Wipe Down
Carl paused his temple–rubbing motion with a smirk. “Forget it; let her do it.”
He wasn’t exactly broke to the point where he couldn’t afford to keep a woman.
Alec quickly responded, “Okay.”
He was quite perceptive and could sense that Carl didn’t seem resistant to his wife, Edie.
Alec had his own little schemes, thinking he should try to win over his boss’s wife.‘ There’s probably something going on between them. I’ve never seen Mr. Brooks let any woman be so bold around him.’

Edie only realized upon returning to the Brooks family that there was another woman in the living room besides Zelda–the one with pink hair she had met before.
Zelda said to her, “You’re working hard taking care of Carl by yourself. I found you some help. This is Regina; take her with you to look after Carl tomorrow.”
Zelda’s tone was somewhat insincere, having previously told Edie to quit her job to take care of Carl full–time, now using this excuse to push another woman onto Carl.
Word must have spread that Carl had woken up once, reigniting these women’s old intentions, swarming toward Carl like moths to a flame.
Regina’s eyes showed no disguised glee. “Hey, Ms. Thornton. Nice to see you again.”
Zelda glanced at both of them and asked Edie, “Do you know Regina?”
Edie replied coldly, “I met her before.”
Zelda lifted her chin and said, “That’s great. You can teach Regina how to take care of Carl.”
Regina cooed at Zelda, “Don’t worry. I’ve learned a lot at home, too. I definitely won’t be inferior to Ms. Thornton.”
Zelda was pleased with Regina. To her, Regina was well–informed, sweet–talking, and able to charm the elders, unlike Edie, who was stupid.
She spoke much more gently to Regina than she did to Edie. “I trust you. her tomorrow.”

Regina answered as if she were Zelda’s good girl, “Okay.”
Edie said, “Then let her go directly to Carl’s ward tomorrow.”
Zelda was satisfied with Edie’s compliance. The more she looked at Edie’s face, the more familiar it seemed to her, and she finally couldn’t help but ask, “Have we met before?”
Edie looked cold. “I can’t remember.”

Zelda frowned but didn’t press any further.
The next day, Regina arrived, but her demeanor was completely different from the docile girl in front of Zelda.
She gloated, “Ms. Thornton, you’ve been married to Carl for a while now; why does it still seem like Zelda doesn’t like you?”
“At least I’m Carl’s legitimate wife, not like you, someone who shamelessly flirts with my husband. Correction, you should address me as Mrs. Brooks,” Edie said calmly.
Regina’s face turned pale with anger, and she said through gritted teeth, “The black card was obviously not given to you by Carl; he likes my sister! You’ve been spreading salacious rumors about him; just wait, with his vengeful nature, you’re as good as
dead!”
She pushed Edie aside and walked toward the hospital room.
‘Sister? Regina is the sister of Carl’s deceased lost love?‘ Edie was curious.
Anyway, she had no feelings for Carl, so she wasn’t annoyed. “Why should I stoop to argue with a dead person? At least he’s my husband now, and I spend his money with a clear conscience.”
As she spoke, she calmly adjusted the position of Carl’s pillow on the bed to make him more comfortable.
While adjusting it, she thought, ‘Besides, with my hands used for precise surgeries, many people want me to be the lead surgeon. Yet here I am massaging Carl every day. This card is rightfully mine.”
“Your days of gloating are numbered,” Regina sneered, ordering Edie about imperiously. “Zelda sent me to take care of him. Get out of the way.”
Edie didn’t mind and moved aside as Regina ordered.
Regina harrumphed and walked to Carl’s bedside, beginning to massage his arm through his clothes.
Carl was so angry that his veins almost popped out. He felt nauseous at Regina’s touch and wanted to vomit. ‘Damn it, Edie. How could you let another woman touch
me?
‘I’m your husband. You just let her push you aside? Where’s the guts you had when you mocked Eliza? How come you’re so timid now?‘
Edie watched Regina’s half–assed massage technique for a few seconds before frowning and asking, “Do you even know what you’re doing? If not, don’t mess it up.” Regina insisted, “Of course I do. I even went to learn medical massage specifically. What do you know?”
Edie said in a casual tone, “A vegetative patient needs professional massage techniques. If something goes wrong because of random poking, I’ll have to tell.Zelda

honestly that it was your doing.”
After Edie said that, the movements of Regina’s hands suddenly became stiff. She didn’t dare to keep kneading randomly and reluctantly let go of Carl. “Fine, I’ll go get some hot water to wipe down Carl’s body.”
Carl thought murderously, ‘If Edie really agrees to let her wipe me down, then I…
To his dismay, he heard Edie decisively say, “Go ahead.”
Carl was so furious that he felt a headache coming on. He was completely consumed by the violent urge to strangle Edie. ‘Great… Edie, you did a good job.
