Chapter 24 All Hot
After using Carl’s card for payment, Edie felt much better.
Even the next day when she was massaging Carl, she was much more diligent.
But Edie’s massage technique was indeed very comfortable, more professional and attentive than any high–priced caregiver one could hire.
And this was always the time when Carl felt most relaxed.
He thought, ‘Since marrying me, Edie has been dutiful and caring without complaint or ever making a single demand.
‘It seems like this arranged marriage isn’t so unacceptable after all.
Edie’s fingers pressed into his skin, soft and delicate.
Every time she massaged his sensitive spots, it tickled him all over and made him feel
warm.
Unbeknownst to Edie, she stopped what she was doing, bent down, helped him sit up, and changed his position.
Her breath sprayed gently on his shoulder, which he found hard to ignore despite himself.
The only sound in the ward that he could hear was the sound when Edie touched his body.
Edie was focused on her massage, with no other intention, but to Carl, it felt like scratching an itch through a barrier.
An odd feeling unconsciously tugged at him. ‘Could she massage a bit harder? Could she massage more time?‘
Until Edie noticed that the places she touched were faintly red and hot, she furrowed her brows in confusion. ‘Did I use too much force today? No, it’s just like the strength I usually use for massages.‘
After the massage, Edie went to ask Carl’s attending doctor about it.
The doctor said, “This is a good sign; it should stimulate Mr. Brooks to wake up again. Make sure to keep up with the massage, and you can extend the duration if needed.”
Edie replied, “Okay.”
After talking to the doctor, Edie turned around to look at Carl.
Carl shivered slightly upon hearing that the time would be extended.
Not understanding why, Edie thought, ‘Is the massage really working? He’s so sensitive in just a few days?‘
As soon as Edie left, a young man in a suit entered Carl’s hospital room. “Mr. Brooks.”

Chapter 24 All Hot
Carl opened his eyes upon hearing the voice.
Everyone thought Carl, who was supposedly still lying in bed, had woken up.
In fact, he had fully opened his eyes the day the Brooks family’s relatives came to cause trouble.
He just hadn’t fully recovered yet and needed rest.
He didn’t want anyone to know he had woken up just yet.
Carl sat up in bed and rubbed his temples, his voice strangely hoarse. “Speak.”
Alec Hopkins, his assistant, said, “We’ve found out information about the car that hit you. So far, there’s no connection with your two uncles.”
“Then keep looking. I don’t believe it was just a simple accident.” Carl smirked. “Now that I’m awake, I’ve got all the time to deal with them.”
“Yes.” Alec took the order and added, “About your wife’s previous post–marital agreement, which included fifty percent of your private assets: given that you’ve been married for such a short time, if you decide to divorce, going to court could completely nullify that…”
Carl suddenly interrupted, “Who said anything about divorcing?”
“Ah…what?” Alec was taken aback, almost thinking he had misheard. ‘No divorce?‘
He had been working for Carl for five years and knew his decisive and autocratic nature well–he would never accept a marriage arranged by his family without
question.
Moreover, he had never even met Edie before…
He wondered in his mind, ‘Why did Mr. Brooks suddenly change his mind? Could it be that the car accident affected him?‘
Carl realized he had objected too quickly and said expressionlessly, “I mean not divorcing for now. I’ve just woken up and have many things to deal with; I don’t have the time to worry about divorce and property issues.”
Alec stammered, “O–okay… it’s just that…”
Carl asked, “What is it?”
Alec replied, “Well… Mrs. Brooks spent tens of millions of dollars on luxury goods with your card a few nights ago,”
“What?” Carl almost laughed out of anger. “Is she some kind of money–eating monster?”
Alec, sensing Carl’s irritation, quickly said, “I’ll freeze your card right away.”
