hapter 7–The Resignation Letter
Chapter 7 – The Resignation Letter
Being publicly dismissed and humiliated by Jaz, even though Willow had already let go of any illusions she once had about him, still drained the color from her face in an instant
As soon as he finished speaking, Jax announced the meeting was over and left the conference room, holding Elena’s hand, without sparing her a single glance.
Right outside the door, the head of HR was waiting
“Mr. Monroe, this is a resignation request. It needs your signature.”
Without so much as a glance, Jax signed the form with a cold expression and continued toward the elevator with Elena beside him.
Back in the conference room, a heavy silence lingered before Willow’s colleagues swarmed around her, their faces filled with shock and indignation.
“Why did that woman just parachute in as a leader?”
“Willow, you have given so much to this team, we are all behind you, or talk to President Monroe again…”
But Willow simply smiled. Her eyes were calm, empty of any emotion.
She raised the resignation letter in her hand and gave it a light wave.
“This position stopped being important to me a long time ago. I planned to resign today anyway–and he already signed off. So, today marks my last day at Monroe Group. From here on out, I wish all of you well.”
Everyone in the design department froze.
“You’re leaving?!” someone gasped.
“You can’t just walk away like this! I was just thinking of going to Jax to fight for that promotion back for your”
Willow gave a faint smile and waved a hand.
“There’s no need. Who he picks is his business. I don’t want to be part of that game anymore.”
She thanked everyone one by one for their kindness, then returned to her desk and quietly began packing up her things.
That evening after work, she invited everyone to a little Italian wine bar near the office.
Under the warm glow of hanging lights, she raised a glass and toasted to each of them–not mentioning her

resignation, nor what she planned to do next.
“Let’s just say… I’m going on a long trip,” she said with a soft laugh.
Many of them had tears in their eyes, but no one pressed her for more.
–
Back at the small apartment she had lived in for three years, the first thing, Willow did was call a real est and put the place up for sale.
She listed it far below market value.
By the next morning, someone had already come to view it, and the deal was closed that very day,
She signed the paperwork and agreed to hand over the keys in two days.
That night, she got a call from Grace.
“Hey! Tomorrow’s my birthday–you didn’t forget, did you? I’ve been waiting for that mysterious gift you promised
“How could I forget?” Willow chuckled. “It’s ready. I’ll hand it to you in person tomorrow.”
But this year, she planned to give Grace an extra gift: the news of her departure.
In the past, she had always been the first to arrive at Grace’s birthday parties–just to catch a few more minutes in
Jax’s presence.
But this year, she deliberately waited until the party was halfway through before calling an Uber.
As always, the celebration was held at the Monroe family estate.
She knew the Victorian–style mansion like the back of her hand–so well, in fact, she could walk through the back gardens blindfolded.
She avoided the main hall and slipped in through the back entrance.
Inside, Grace was just about to blow out the candles. She stood at the center in a champagne–colored dress, beaming surrounded by friends and well–wishers.
Jax stood on the other side of the room, his hand resting gently on Elena’s back.
They looked like a perfect family portrait.
Willow stood silently by the door, watching, until the hushed voices of two maids in the corner reached her ears.
“Can you believe it? Mr. Jax and Miss Elena were broken up for years–and now they’re back together. It’s like a

drama come to life.”
“Wasn’t that Willow girl chasing him for years? Heard she tried everything… but Mr. Jax only ever had eyes for Elena. People say that love runs deep–etched into his bones.”
“They say Jax brought her home this time to meet the family. If nothing goes wrong, an engagement must be coming
soon…”
Standing in the shadows, Willow listened to every word.
