Chapter 16
Damien dearly misunderstood. In his eyes, Willow’s bold demand for him to strip down was a shameless attempt at
seduction
“Shameless. Unbelievable, he snapped, his voice laced with scorn.
Willow’s eyes widened. She could see it…. he totally got the wrong idea.
“No, that’s not what I meant! I just want to see your….”
Shoulder.
Back then, on that horrible night, she’d passed out from the pain. But when she came to, the pain was still there…. so sharp, so consuming, she bit down on the man’s shoulder and didn’t let go.
She remembered the blood. The pressure of her jaw. She was sure she’d left a scar.
If Damien had that same bite mark… then he was the man from that night.
But before she could finish explaining Damien’s phone rang.
He answered with a clipped, “Talk”
Whatever was said on the other end made his expression shift… fast.
His usual cold, commanding composure shattered in an instant. Anxiety flooded his features as he muttered, “I’m on my way.”
He hung up and turned on his heel, rushing out of the room like a storm unleashed.
Nico’s heart sank.
It had to be something serious…. something about the little master.
Only two people in the world could make Damien lose his cool: the child he had… and the woman he couldn’t find for six years.
Nico hurried to keep up. “Boss, what about Miss Windsor?”
Damien didn’t stop walking. “Let the cops handle her.”
Willow’s heart dropped. She didn’t care about proving his identity anymore… she just knew she couldn’t get arrested.
She rushed after him. “You can’t hand me over to the police! I have three children at home… they don’t have a father.

If I go to jail, who’s going to take care of them?”
She was near tears. “I know my kid was wrong for what he did to your car. I’m sorry, I really am. But he’s only five years old. They need their mom.”
Damien looked back at her… his eyes dark, unreadable. But something flickered there.
He knew exactly what it meant to grow up without a mother.
His own son, Rick, was living proof.
Damien ‘s jaw clenched. The cold edge in his voice softened… but just a little.
“Keep her here. I’ll deal with her later.”
“No… wait! Please don’t lock me up!” Willow’s voice cracked. “My kids are still in the motel! They’re waiting for me..

Clang!
The door slammed shut in her face, followed by the heavy click of the lock sliding into place.
Willow stood frozen for half a second, then rushed to the door, banging on it with her fists.
“Let me out! You can’t do this! This is illegal detention!” Her voice was hoarse, nearly breaking.
Tears welled up in her eyes.
She didn’t even have her phone. Her babies… her three little boys… were still at the motel. Alone.
What if something happened to them? What if someone bad came?
“Let me out! Please… please let me out!” she cried, but the hallway beyond the door remained silent.
Meanwhile, at One Mansion, the most luxurious estate in Santawill City:
Damien stormed through the doors, barely pausing to remove his coat, let alone change his shoes. He headed straight for the second–floor nursery.
Butler Jerry hurried after him, trying to keep up.
Damien ‘s brows were furrowed in frustration. “What happened?!”
The old butler, breathless, quickly explained,
“Little Master was perfectly fine earlier. But this afternoon, Miss Nancy suddenly showed up. She brought gifts and went upstairs to see him. We don’t know what she said, but right after that, the Little Master became very agitated.

He even hurt Miss Nancy.”
Damien’s eyes darkened, his strides growing faster.
“Did he hurt himself?”
“We’re not sure. He won’t let anyone near him.”
Crash!
Thud!
Bang–clatter…!
Damien reached the door just as the sound of shattering echoed through the hallway. Something heavy had been
hurled across the room.
His expression tightened with worry. He shoved open the door and stepped inside.
“Nancy…”
Smash!
A porcelain vase flew straight at him. Damien dodged just in time, the vase missing his ear by a breath before soaring out the open door, crashing to pieces on the first–floor marble below.
Jerry paled and froze at the threshold.
Damien, however, was unfazed. He was used to his son’s temper by now.
Taking a calming breath, he stepped into the room, speaking softly, “Rick, what’s got you upset again?”
Rick stood there, fists clenched so tightly his knuckles had turned white. His little brows were scrunched in a fierce scowl, chest heaving with every breath.
His face was icy and intense, the rage in his eyes a perfect mirror of Damien ‘s own. Even his aura carried that same oppressive dominance.
There was no question… they were father and son.
Damien slowly approached, wanting to comfort him with a hug.
But Rick took two steps back, rejecting the gesture. He kept a solid two–meter distance and narrowed his eyes at him.
“You’re getting married?”
Damien paused, caught off guard. “Who told you that?”

Rick didn’t answer, He just stared him down, burning holes into him with those sharp eyes.
Damien instantly knew.. it had to be Nancy,
“She told you that, didn’t she?” he asked, voice colder now.
Rick’s brows furrowed just a bit tighter. “…Yes.”
Damien understood immediately. His face darkened, and he sighed with exasperation.
“Don’t listen to her nonsense. I never planned on giving you a stepmother. You know this… I’ve never stopped searching for your biological mom. Not for a single day.”
“You’re not marrying her?” Rick asked again, voice tense.
“Not marrying.”
“You swear?”
Damien met his son’s gaze, unwavering. “I swear.”
Hearing that, Rick’s expression finally softened a little. “I don’t like her.”
Damiennodded without hesitation. “I don’t like her either.”
Rick’s lips moved slightly. “Any news about Mommy?”
“Not yet,” Damienadmitted, “but trust me… if there’s even the slightest lead, I’ll be the first to tell you.”
When it came to that woman, Damien ‘s feelings were… complicated… equal parts love and hate.
She had once been his salvation, quite literally the antidote that saved his life. For that, he was grateful.
And Damien wasn’t the kind of man who took intimacy lightly. He believed in commitment, in one person for life.
Since she was the only one he’d ever touched, then she was the only one who would ever matter. He had planned to find her, marry her, and spend the rest of his days in peace with her.
But everything changed when Rick appeared out of nowhere.
Damien knew he’d never touched another woman. Rick could only be their child. A child born of love, yet… she had left him. And left their son.
If it hadn’t been for Nancy discovering Rick by accident, the boy might’ve died… right there at Damien ‘s doorstep.
She had abandoned him. Worse, she had abandoned their child.

How could she be so cruel?
Damien clenched his fists in silent frustration. He watched as his son’s emotions slowly calmed. Then, walking over, he knelt beside him and gently cupped the boy’s face in his hands.
His voice softened.
“Rick, I want to find her just as much as you do. I wish she could walk through that door right now. But some things… can’t be forced. Just because we miss her doesn’t mean we can have her.”
No one would believe it if he said it out loud…
The two wealthiest men in the country, he and his son, were also the loneliest and most heartbroken.
Both had been abandoned by the same woman.
Rick’s brows furrowed tighter.
“Why didn’t Mommy want you… or me? Was it because I wasn’t good enough? Or because you weren’t?”
Damienshook his head firmly. “You were just a newborn. It was never about you. You’re amazing. You’re my pride.”
“Then it must’ve been you.” Rick’s voice was quiet, but accusatory. “Did you bully her? Make her mad? Is that why
she left?”
“I…” Damienopened his mouth to defend himself… but guilt settled in his throat.
Back then, he hadn’t made it to the hospital. He had no choice… if he’d walked away, he would’ve died.
But she had resisted. She had cried and struggled with all her strength.
He had forced her. There was no denying it.
Maybe that’s why she disappeared.
Damien closed his eyes for a beat.
“I was wrong. There were things I should’ve done differently. But Rick, I swear, I’ve always wanted to make it right. That night, I told your mother… face to face… that I’d make her the happiest, most cherished woman in the world. And still, she left. You miss her… and so do I.”
Rick stared at him for a long moment, then abruptly turned away and walked over to the window.
He climbed onto the cushioned bench and sat down, his back straight, eyes glued to the villa’s iron gates.
Damien ‘s heart clenched.

His son did this often… sat there by himself, quietly watching the door, just in case….
Just in case she came home.
Damien ‘s chest felt tight.
Every time he saw his son like this, the anger boiled up again.
Where the hell are you?
The boy’s health was deteriorating because he missed her so much, and she still hadn’t shown up.
She left them both. Just disappeared. Didn’t her heart ache even the slightest bit?
