Chapter 9
Mira spent three days in the Medical Center.
On the day of her discharge, she received a call from the Pack Embassy–her Lunar Residency Seal for the European Territory had been approved.
It was the only good news she’d heard in weeks.
Standing outside the Embassy, the sunlight felt harsh enough to bring tears to her eyes.
She raised a hand to shield her face. The mating ring had long since been removed from her finger, leaving only a faint pale circle on her skin.
It was time to end this.
After collecting her residency papers, she went directly to a pack law specialist, drafted the traditional dissolution scrolls, pricked her finger, and pressed her blood mark to the parchment. Then she called Saela.
“Meet me. Now.”
At the coffee shop, Saela glared at her suspiciously. “What the hell do you want? If my brother comes back and finds out you dragged me here-”
Mira didn’t bother responding. She simply reached into her bag, pulled out her mating ring, and slid it across the
table.
“Try it on.”
Saela looked at her skeptically but, as if compelled by some deeper curiosity, slipped the ring onto her finger–a perfect fit.
“How did you…” she trailed off in confusion.
Mira smiled, her voice eerily calm, as if discussing the weather rather than the man she’d once desperately loved. “You’ve always wondered why your brother suddenly started avoiding you, haven’t you?”
Saela’s fingers trembled slightly.
“Let me explain it for you.” Mira locked eyes with her, each word measured and detached. “He didn’t pull away because he mated me. He didn’t withdraw because you upset him. He pulled away because he loves yo
“In his Moon Chamber, he keeps a Shadow Doll with your exact likeness.”
“Every night, he satisfies his needs with that doll.”
“The night you stayed at our home, when you were asleep on the couch, he kissed you for three full minutes.”
“This ring was custom–made to your measurements. The one he’s always wanted to mate was you.”

Chapter 9
With each revelation, Saela’s expression transformed.
Shock. Confusion. Embarrassment. And finally–delight. A kaleidoscope of emotions played across her face.
Watching her, Mira felt a bitter amusement.
Lucien had been terrified to reveal his feelings to Saela, afraid of losing her. He’d used his devotion to the Moon Goddess to suppress his desires.
What he didn’t realize was that Saela had always wanted him too.
Mira stood, pulling out the blood–marked divorce scroll and placing it on the table. “When he returns, give him this. Tell him I wish you both a lifetime of happiness.”
She turned to leave, but Saela’s tone suddenly changed, almost softening: “Mira, where are you going?”
Without looking back, Mira smiled–a genuine smile that felt foreign on her lips after so long. She felt lighter, freer, more like the vibrant wolf she’d been before meeting Lucien Ashmorne.
“I’m reclaiming my life,” she said with newfound lightness. “Getting back to being Mira Solvienne again. Whatever happens between you two from now on is your business, not mine.”
Her eyes flashed with warning as she added, “And Saela–if you ever touch me again, I’ll return the favor a hundred times over. Don’t test me.”
At the airport, as Mira wheeled her luggage toward the gate, her phone vibrated.
A message from Lucien: A photo with the caption: “Just landed. Brought you this.”
She opened it to find a picture of an ordinary bracelet, not even in a gift box.
She smiled faintly.
She knew it was just an afterthought.
His real purpose abroad had been to acquire that precious necklace for Saela.
Mira was merely an obligation to be fulfilled.
Yet strangely, she felt nothing.
The revelation that once would have shattered her now barely registered.
The woman who had loved Lucien Ashmorne was gone, and with her, the power he held over Mira’s emotions.
Because, Lucien, I don’t love you anymore.
So you can no longer hurt me.
She clutched her boarding pass and walked briskly toward the gate.

As she looked up, she caught sight of Lucien emerging from the VIP arrival area in his black coat, his expression stern as always.
She didn’t call out to him.
She simply watched him walk away.
Mark undone. Bond broken.
“Happy Severance Day,” she whispered.
“May freedom taste as sweet as you imagined. And may this… finally set me free.”
In the next moment, she blocked his number and severed their mind link with a quick mental incantation that caused a brief flare of pain behind her eyes.
Then she turned and walked in the opposite direction–away from him, forever.
