Chapter 5
Chapter 5
Moonlight poured like liquid silver across the living room floor.
Mira stood frozen behind the door, watching through the narrow gap as Lucien bent over Saela, his kiss desperate
and hungry.
His breathing ragged, his long fingers gripping her waist as if releasing six years of suppressed desire in a single
moment.
“Saela…” “Saela…”
He whispered her name in a tone of such raw intimacy that Mira had never heard from him before.
After what seemed like an eternity, Lucien pulled back as if suddenly awakening from a trance. He gently wiped the moisture from Saela’s lips with his thumb.
Then he slipped the Purification Beads back onto his wrist, instantly transforming back into the disciplined Alpha
devoted to the Moon Goddess.
Mira’s nails dug deep into her palms, using physical pain to keep herself from breaking down.
She turned silently, closing the door without a sound, and buried herself under the covers.
Outside, footsteps retreated down the hallway.
She knew Lucien was heading to his Moon Chamber.
She closed her eyes but couldn’t escape the flood of memories from years of failed attempts to seduce him-
How she’d “accidentally” fallen in his lap while wearing revealing sleepwear during his meditation, only to be caught and set aside without a glance.
The time she’d deliberately brought him towels during his bath, but he’d opened the door completely covered, not an inch of skin exposed beyond necessity.
When she’d pretended to be drunk and spilled drinks on him, only to be held back by a single finger to her forehead.
He had remained unmoved by her every effort, as if her desires were merely trivial distractions.
Yet now she understood–when the heart truly desires someone, even a whispered name can shatter every wall of
restraint.
How pathetic she’d been.
Six years of increasingly desperate attempts to gain his attention.
Six years of humiliation, of changing herself, of trying every trick she could imagine–and nothing. Not a flicker of desire in those cold eyes.

But one sleepy murmur from Saela’s lips, and the great Alpha crumbled like a house of cards.
Tears flooded her face but were quickly wiped away.
It didn’t matter.
Mira Solvienne wasn’t without options.
From now on, let him love his adoptive sister.
She would find her own happiness.
The next morning, Lucien and Saela were already at breakfast when Mira appeared.
Saela touched her lips with a puzzled expression. “Luc, why are my lips all swollen this morning? Do you have blood–sucking bugs around here or something?”
Lucien’s movements faltered, his voice dropping low. “I’ll have someone bring you an ointment for that.”
Though his tone was even, Mira could hear the hidden tenderness beneath his words–a softness he’d never once used with her.
He slid an elegantly wrapped box across the table to Mira.
She opened it to find an ancient artifact worth millions.
Her lips twisted in a bitter smile. “How generous of you.”
Saela peered at the gift with poorly disguised jealousy. “Wow, brother. You’re so good to your mate. And here I thought you were just an old–fashioned wolf who only cared about the Moon Goddess, not about pleasing your
Luna.”
Míra glanced up at Lucien, noticing he made no effort to explain that the gift was merely compensation for the injury Saela had caused–not a token of affection.
In truth, he’d never cared about her preferences or taken time to select gifts that would please her.
He simply gave a noncommittal “hmm” before standing. “I have pack business. I need to go.”
Before leaving, he looked at Saela, his voice deepening. “Behave yourself while I’m gone. You can go anywhere in the den except the Moon Chamber.”
Saela frowned. “Why not there?”
Lucien brushed off her question with a vague excuse, but Mira knew the truth-
The Moon Chamber housed his most forbidden desires.
After breakfast, Mira retreated to her room, unwilling to spend time with Saela.

When she woke from her midday rest, however, she discovered her long hair had been hacked unevenly, as if
chewed by an animal.
She rushed out to find Saela sitting on the couch, cheerfully weaving something with strands of dark hair.
In an instant, she understood.
“What the fuck did you do to my hair?” Mira’s voice trembled with fury,
Saela looked up with a brazen smile. “Oh, that. I needed materials for a craft project. I’m making a hair talisman.”
She dangled the stolen locks between her fingers, her eyes gleaming with malice behind the innocent expression. “Your hair color is perfect–so dark and shiny. Are you upset? I thought you were sleeping so soundly, I didn’t want to wake you to ask permission.”
A cold rage swept through Mira’s body.
This spoiled, manipulative little bitch had crossed the line for the last time.
If Lucien wanted to worship the ground she walked on, that was his problem.

But Mira didn’t owe her a damn thing.
“Clearly nobody ever taught you to keep your hands to yourself,” Mira snapped, lunging forward to deliver a stinging slap across Saela’s face!
