Chapter 3
Sarah furrowed her brows. “I’m not avoiding you.”
Daniel took a few steps forward, scrutinizing her evasive demeanor. “Still denying it? You’ve been coming and going every day, and whenever you see me, you don’t even say hello and just leave. Isn’t that avoiding me?”
“Why? Is it because I’m with Emily now?”
Sarah quickly shook her head. “You’re with the person you like, and I’m happy for you. I sincerely wish you both happiness and that you two will end up together. Don’t worry, I’ve already accepted that you won’t ever like me, so I won’t like you anymore.”
She calmly stated the established facts, but Daniel’s expression darkened, finding her words strangely harsh.
The fact that Sarah didn’t like him was probably the most absurd thing he’d ever heard.
“You rejected me when I confessed. You refused to be with me despite my persistence, so now you’re using a different method to get my attention?”
As he spoke, he watched her face, and when he saw her clearly startled expression, he became even more certain of the truth.
He stepped closer, and his tone grew colder when he saw the box in Sarah’s hands.
“You don’t like me anymore, but you’ve written me so many love letters, secretly drawn so many pictures of me, and clung to me for years. And now you suddenly say you don’t like me, just like that?”
“Sarah, don’t you find what you’re saying ridiculous?”
Sarah silently watched the man in front of her.
How could she not know that what she was saying was absurd? After all, the “wolf is coming” story had been told so many times that no one would believe it anymore.
But these ridiculous words were the truth.
“I did like you for a long time, but you’ll never like me, so I’ve truly given up.”
With that, Sarah opened the box in front of Daniel and dumped its contents.
Then, she tore up the letters and sketches, piece by piece.
As the paper scraps fluttered in the air, she noticed that his expression didn’t show any joy; instead, it grew even darker.
After that day, Sarah and Daniel never spoke again.
She had nothing left to say, and he thought she was just playing hard to get and didn’t want to bother with her.

This tense atmosphere continued until the Foster family’s dinner party.
In the past, at these family gatherings, Sarah, who was the Foster family’s favorite, was always the center of
attention.
The Fosters would always surround her with care and warmth, and it was always Daniel who had to step in to rescue her.
But now, the Fosters‘ focus had completely shifted to Emily.
After all, Emily was the future mistress of the Foster family, while Sarah was just an outsider.
They knew what truly mattered.
During the morning, Sarah witnessed the Foster family’s clear preference for Emily.
When Emily entered, Daniel’s mother immediately placed the Foster family’s heirloom bracelet on her wrist.
Sarah, in her previous life, had never even had the chance to see the bracelet.
As the banquet began, the Fosters openly discussed the couple’s wedding date at the dinner table.
In the end, the dinner concluded with the wedding date being finalized.
Just as Sarah was about to leave with Daniel, Daniel’s mother suddenly called out to her, saying she needed to discuss something private.
Once inside the study, Daniel’s mother got straight to the point.
“Sarah, leave Daniel.”
“You know Daniel and Emily are together now. Staying here will only cause trouble for him and make a fool of yourself. What else can you do?”
Daniel’s mother didn’t bother to hide her dislike for Sarah, and a strange bitterness welled up inside Sarah.
In the past, Daniel’s mother had liked her very much, but that affection ended the day she confessed her feelings to Daniel.
Everyone had called her ridiculous, and condemned her for her shamelessness…
Sarah tightly clenched her palm. “Don’t worry, I’ll leave.”
With that, she took out her immigration papers from her bag and handed them to Daniel’s mother.
“I just spoke to my father recently and told him I’ll be going abroad to live with him. He said he’s found me a fiancé.
I’ll stay far away from Uncle Daniel and will never bother him again.”
Daniel’s mother carefully examined Sarah’s immigration papers before her expression softened.

“You better keep your word.”
Only after Daniel’s mother left did Sarah finally relax her tense nerves. She placed the papers back in her bag and prepared to leave.
But just as she stood up, she came face to face with Daniel, who was standing in the doorway.
“Who are you staying away from?”
Sarah’s mind went blank for a moment. She didn’t know how much Daniel had heard, but instinctively, she didn’t want him to find out that she was leaving for good.
She shook her head and said, “It’s no one, you must have misheard.”
With that, she didn’t look at him again and turned to leave, but Daniel’s voice suddenly reached her ears.
“I know you don’t want to go abroad. After Emily and I get married, you don’t have to move out. Since your father and I are good friends, I can take care of you for the rest of your life.”
As soon as the words left his mouth, Sarah’s eyes widened in shock, and even Emily, who had come to find Daniel, froze in place.
